Position Description
Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and talented Weblogic and Application Support Engineer to join the Product Operations team. Expert Weblogic administration, troubleshooting, and tuning skills are required. This position provides Tier 2 support for complex application production problems that cannot be solved by the Network Operations Center team. The candidate will be expected to become an expert in technology, with a primary focus on Weblogic. This is a 24x7 production network and candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekends on occasion. The candidate will be in the position to present and implement solutions from both an engineering and operational aspect.
Responsibilities:
-Tier 2 Support for complex application problems passed from the Network Operations Centre (NOC) staff
-Provide Weblogic tuning, upgrade, and deployment expertise to all technical teams
-Present code/deploy solutions to Engineering and NOC for timely issue resolution
-Assist release engineers in maintenance and tuning of development and QA Weblogic instances
-Continually evaluate existing application for performance bottlenecks and downtime risk areas
-Research and implement diagnostic and operational tools to improve our production services
Requirements:
-Very strong operational knowledge and administration of Weblogic 8/9 in clustered UNIX environments. This includes configuration, tuning, diagnostic tools, and troubleshooting
-Strong J2EE programming and troubleshooting skills in a Weblogic environment
-Strong operational knowledge of UNIX (Solaris/Linux)
-Proven technical troubleshooting experience, with a talent for solving hard problems
-Experience working with 3-tiered architectures (Apache, Informix, Weblogic)
-Understanding of basic network design and concepts
-Highly motivated and the ability to work proactively without close supervision
