Sr. Engineer- Network Management (New York City, NY Contract)
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide engineering expertise on OSS interfaces, including legacy Telcordia and other systems deployed in today’s RBOC and ILEC network operation centers.
• Provide engineering expertise on next generation network OSS interfaces that will include SNMP, etc.
• Provide technical interfacing between Telcordia and customer for OSMINE development
• Provide technical interfacing to development contractors building components of the EMS
• Manage the overall architecture and development of a carrier modeled network environment for the customer
• Analyze requirements and sketch out overall solution through white papers and other engineering-oriented documentation as needed
• Socialize requirements and solutions with the project management team, test team, and customer to gain consensus on approach
• Produce detailed test documentation and requirements that are identifiable, testable, and traceable
• Track the requirements through the development process by reviewing architecture and high-level designs, low-level designs, system verification test plans and cases, and product documentation
• Research the market and understand what features and capabilities may be required for the network solution
• Research market-driven features to determine appropriate source of industry standard specifications
Experience:
• 8+ years engineering experience in telecommunications, switching and OSS
• Experience with RBOC modeled Network Operation Centers and associated OSSs including those from Telcordia.
• Intimate experience with SNMP MIBs, alarm traps, and TL1.
• Intimate experience with HP Openview
• Intimate experience with Sun Solaris platforms
• Operational experience with SONET and ATM switches and associated management capabilities
• Familiarity with Telcordia (Bellcore) specifications, LSSGR, and other related standards
• Writing identifiable and testable requirements, differentiating requirements from architecture and design
Skills:
• Good demonstrable writing skills
• Articulate and comfortable speaking
• Self-starter able to manage and meet deadlines
Education:
At least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another related engineering field. Post-graduate degree in engineering is a definite plus.
